So I began to search online and your site came up was so relieved!!! Your site gives so very clear detail instructions and very easy to understand. I’m so very inspired to make patterns Now and to learn when I see how very crisp clear and precise info and layouts here on this site. I was wondering if there’s any info on the york for pants though.

Hello Nadine

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

I have to say I feel pretty bad about this. I have devised a much better set of instructions to draft the pants block, to get a better fit for more people, I just haven't had the time to write them up. I also have some tips for taking measurements for pants. I will do my utmost to get them up sometime soon.

Regarding the york line for pants, it's just one of the many things on my list....

Given the current (dreadful) situation, I actually will have some more time now to be able to create new content, but I did decide the first priority was to create some videos for the block instructions...

I'm confused about the crotch depth measurement as surely it depends on how close your sitting to the chair and what angle the chair back is? bit confusing

Hello Hannah

The written instructions on my website are suitable only for Standard Figure. I am creating a more detailed system for creating Pants for Non-Standard Figures. I published the first video yesterday (Introduction & Measurements) and Parts 2 & 3 will be published soon.

I no longer recommend taking the crotch depth measurement the way described on this page (Although this is a very common way to take the measurement). I just don't have the time to go back and redo the graphics here at the moment.

The video I published yesterday explains another way to take the crotch depth measurement; basically tie a piece of elastic around your upper thigh, right up against your crotch, making sure the elastic is horizontal and level with the floor. Measure AT THE SIDE from your waist to the elastic. I think this method gets a better result.

If you do want to use the new system, subscribe to my channel on Youtube so you'll get a notification when I publish Parts 2 & 3.
